Happy JUNE to you and happy Friday, too. Even though the official date of summer is sometime off, the start of June always feel like "summer" to me. Chicago better get its act together weather-wise though. What is this rainy 50 degree stuff? Bring back the heat!
Today's Mackie's Tidbit is a simple one and you might already know it. Let's talk about how to keep that kitchen sponge--you know, the one you're cleaning your dishes with--and how to keep it clean...er. Did you know that the kitchen sponge is the dirtiest thing in your house!? Gross, right? Luckily, there is a really simple way to kill 99.999999% of the germs. Here's how:
Or, maybe you're a dishrag kind of person? Well, that's just as dirty. Throw that sucker in the wash often. Weekly. Twice weekly. Wash it on hot and dry it too. I like a sponge better than a rag because, to me, the rag feels wet and sloppy to maneuver. What's your (dishwashing) weapon of choice?
PS Have you tried these sponges by Scotch Brite made of 100% plant based and 23% recycled materials? That's the sponge I've been rocking the past year or so and really like it. It holds up just as well as other sponges and I like that it's made of plants instead of plastic...or whatever else neon sponges are made out of...

Dirty!
I hate it when the sponge starts to smell moldy... I'm sure that never happens to you as you are more sponge-mindful!
