Pictures in Series: Summertime (IV)

Just checking in with another photo dump. Already well into July. How does summer always go so fast? Winter? Not so much. But fall and summer, my two favorites, yeah, they fly right on by. Here are a few pictures from the last part of my week in DC and Mac and my trip to Asheville, too. Take a look, if you'd like...

Pleased to be on an air conditioned bus to meet Mac for lunch. It's the little things when it's 110 degrees out.

Keeping cool with mixed berry coconut milk ice cubes.

Date night: lamb burger with feta, cucumber yogurt and tomatoes.

Crisp white wine outside.

Felt European to me.

Mm, gelato. Vanilla and mocha chocolate.

My shorts matched the table cloth for dinner (see above).

The huge storm that resulted in 8 days of no power for thousands in DC as it rolled in.

Peaches + strawberries.

A watermelon wall!

Slurpee. Had to do it.

White wine spritzer + fresh fruit.

Olympic trials and pajamas. Ahh, nights in.

Sunset walk home from church.

Modern day Huck Finns.

Georgetown canal.

A bit of peace in the midst of the hot, busy city.

Babies and mama duck.

Grumpy and waiting in the heat.

Off to catch the train to Asheville.

Hour one of ten. If we looked rough then, should have seen 4:45am when we arrived...

Small town USA train station.

Welcome to Spartanburg (yawn). Now the 1.5 hour drive to Asheville. Mac's poor parents had to pick us up.

Big moon.

Back to sleep for a few hours  at the cabin after our early morning arrival. Loved the light and these windows (and my visitor).

Bruni loved the cabin rafters.

A friendly squirrel said hi to me at the window of a furniture store at the Grove Park Inn.

New favorite spot, Bruni?

Happy Birthday, America.

Hot sun and trees.

Live bluegrass at the Grove Park Inn.

Quite the view.

Father + son.

Necessary.

This city kitty longed for some AC. (We did too).

A (tall) Conforti cocktail. Sweet and tangy like a sidecar, but better.

We missed this sleepy face.

Napping in Mac's lap. Two happy boys right there.

Motoring/sleeping away the afternoon.

Happy Fourth of July sleeves!

Downtown Asheville getting festive on the 4th.

Street entertainment.

Fireworks.

Morning yogurt, granola, peaches on the back deck.

Bruni montage.

The Arcades in downtown Asheville.

The coolest bookstore/coffee shop/bar.

I will channel her as I write.

Beer flight post ziplining.

The sweetest (prettiest) cherries.

Love.

Big chair, little kitty.

View off the back deck. Not too shabby.

Back at the aforementioned bookstore for some coffee after a pizza dinner.

(plunk).

Morning coffee on the porch (Mac legs, Eric legs).

Yogurt and fruit. The best driven-all-the-way-from-a-Florida-neighbor's-tree mango.

Writing and napping.

Walking through downtown Black Mountain.

The pretty drive back to DC.

Profiles.

Poor thing gets so, so scared in cars now. Sleeping on shoulders helps, but he's still miserable. Le sigh.
No more trips, Brune. Promise.

Hugging on Mac's neck.

Back in DC for some Mr. Yogato after an open house and a rain storm.

So relieved to be home after being gone six weeks. What a trooper kitty.

Old Town for dinner before my flight back to Chicago.

A sad goodbye and back to Chicago...

Phew. Okay. That was a lot. Hope you enjoyed :)
