Ziplining in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Howdy. I hope you had a great 4th and weekend too. I'm back in Chicago now and getting back into my "normal" routine. I'll have a regular Tuesday post here shortly, but wanted to share some pictures from zip lining this past weekend. You might remember that Mac and I joined his parents in Asheville for a few days. Boy oh boy was it hot, but beautiful. On Friday we went ziplining in the Blue Ridge Mountains with Navitat. Now, this was no little zipping experience. We were 200 feet in the air, going from trees to ziplines (some of which were as long as 1,100 feet), for about four hours. Wild! It was really fun, even thought it rained and was cold and slippery--the wet cables went even faster so despite the chilliness it made for a great time. Here are a few pics of Mac, his parents and me. Hope you enjoy and definitely check out ziplining in Asheville if you're there anytime soon.

Mac, coming in for a landing. (That rope in the foreground is the "emergency break" in case you come in too fast and can't break using your hand quickly enough).

Dr. C zipping in fast and with a smile.

Does he look like this is fun or what?

Wee!

All of us safe and sound, albeit wet, on the platform. Only a certain someone on the far left was smart and brought rain gear. The rest of us toughed it out in soggy cotton.

Mac, I am posting this for you. I hope I don't see it posted anywhere else on the interwebs. I look a bit wild-haired and am all gums, but hey, I was having fun :)
